The story behind Number Twenty Four

Who are we and why are we here?

We’re Number Twenty Four, a team of three with a passion for property and a determination to make a difference. We’ve launched in 2024 because we know that we can bring new energy to the Sussex property sector, and we’re certain that now is the right time for our venture.

2023 saw each of us become disillusioned with our jobs. Abi, our Chief Marketing Officer and Co-Founder, was made redundant at the start of the year and fell into a role that didn’t quite align with her ambitions and values. Georgia and Dan, Directors and Co-Founders, both felt like it was time to take the years of experience working in Estate Agency and apply it to their own model and ways of working. Conversations of ‘one day’ quickly became ‘why not now’ and before we knew it we had handed in our notices and stepped into self-employed life.

At the start of our business journey we sat down with a cup of tea (ahem glass of wine) and discussed our personal reasons for wanting to leave behind stable jobs to jump into the unknown. The answer was simple. We wanted to make the property industry better and had a good idea of how to go about changing things. Together we have the skills, knowledge and drive to fulfil our mission – to simplify the process of buying or selling a home and to take the uncertainty out of one of the most important life decisions one can make.

The story behind our name

We knew from the start that we wanted to be different. We didn’t want to blend into the already crowded market of Estate Agents that took the last name of their founders. We wanted a forward-thinking and modern name to represent who we are as a team and how we want to operate as a business. We want anyone who works with us to align with our purpose and to be proud to represent our brand in the same way that we are as founders.

It took time for us to decide on our name. We went through rounds of coming up with ideas and then discounting them either because they were already taken or just didn’t feel like us. Eventually, after a lot of ‘no’s’ and ‘definitely not’s’ we landed on Number Twenty Four.

But why ‘Number Twenty Four’?

We wanted a name that represented what is important to anyone involved in property and a number seemed like a good place to start. We all have house numbers and plaques that signify their importance. When you buy a home, its number usually means something – it’s how you tell people how to find you, where important letters will be sent, and gifts on special occasions.

When we paint our houses, we choose a colour – which often has a number associated with it too. As amateur property renovators, we’re a little bit obsessed with paint colours and have had a lot of fun choosing the perfect shade for each room.

If you’re into numerology, the number 24 means a lot too. The number has a lot of energy around balance, harmony, partnerships, stability, protection, passion, and clear-headed direction. Which sounds like a good foundation for a new business to us.

When we finally landed on Number Twenty Four it just looked and felt right, not least because 2024 is the year that we fulfil our purpose.

The agency that brought our brand to life

We wouldn’t be ‘Number Twenty Four’ without our creative agency, UnitedUs. After finding them online we met up at their stunning Brighton office and the team led us through an initial workshop to get to know us and our vision. They went away, worked their magic, and came up with a brand proposal. Taking inspiration from the architecture of the properties we love, they came up with our iconic tile design. After only a couple of tweaks our brand was born and we are obsessed. Details mean everything to us and our brand embodies how we will act as agents – we will focus on the details of every sale so that our clients don’t have to.

We were immediately impressed with Number Twenty Four – we could see their passion and desire to do something different. Many estate agents default to the same ways of doing things, but their ambition to create a genuinely outstanding service gave us lots of great things to bring to the brand. We’re excited to see the brand take flight!
